Hebrides 2019 - Days 9 & 10

Day 9

Last day on Lewis and Harris, so I bought an Harris Tweed toilet bag for my mum from the official gift shop. It was surprisingly expensive, but still cheaper than buying it elsewhere. I bought myself a hand carved leather wallet from the same place. No free bike parking by the shops, so I had to buy a pay and display ticket, and uncommon necessity for motorbikes in the UK. Not having anyway to secure it, I placed the ticket under one of my luggage straps and took a photo in the hopes the photo would dissuade a traffic warden from giving my a ticket would the wind blow the ticket away.

The it was a short trip to the next ferry port.

The ferry to Uist was much smaller that the one that took us to Stornoway. This was a little ro-ro ferry.

The crossing didn't take very long and we were on the next island. It's getting late so we start looking for a campsite. We find one called "Morecroft Holidays". It's a nice site, if a little windy (but then they all are). https://www.moorcroftholidays.com/

Day 10

The campsite has a communal cooking area, with a small selection of books. No need to use my camping stove and it's a chance to shelter from the wind for a bit.

A ride from North Uist down to South Uist (connected by land) for a wander around and to get ready to the ferry to Barra.

Early to bed for an early start in the morning for the ferry to Barra, the last ferry before the trip back to the mainland.
